Tehran, April 17, IRNA – Ugandan minister of state for international relations, Henry Okello Oryem said on Saturday that it is among legitimate rights of every nation to make use of peaceful nuclear energy.

He made the remarks in the International conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation of nuclear weapons in Tehran on Saturday.
Bullying powers seek to use nuclear weapons in order to maintain their domination over other countries, he said.
NPT not only calls for non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction but pursues drawing up of a program to deal with current global challenge, he said.
Uganda backs countries looking for nuclear energy for peaceful purposes, he said adding that the countries armed with nuclear weapons should dismantle their arms, he underlined.
Weapons of mass destructions are regarded as a big hurdle to NPT as well as optimal use of energy resources, he said.
Eradication of weapons of mass destruction should be a goal for all nations, he said.
Since 1970 three international powers have increased their nuclear weapons dramatically, he said.
After 1970 there were only five nuclear countries in the world but the number has risen to nine with some other states being on the verge of nuclearization, he said.
It is incumbent upon all nations to fully observe NPT at this sensitive juncture, he said.
Tehran hosts a two-day international conference on Disarmament and Non-Proliferation of nuclear weapons around the globe.
