A ship carrying Iranian humanitarian aid will set sail for the besieged Gaza Strip next Sunday, an IRI Red Crescent Society spokesman said Tuesday.
Abdora'uf Adibzadeh said the ship ferries a 1100-ton load of aid, including 50 tons of medicine.
The mission is scheduled to reach Gaza in fourteen days after launch.
Meanwhile, IRI Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ramin Mehman-Parast on Tuesday hailed Egypt’s recent move on opening of its borders with the Gaza Strip to transport humanitarian aid to the enclave.
Speaking to reporters at his weekly press briefing, Mehman-Parast expressed hope that Cairo would pay due attention to the expectations of the international community as well as Egypt’s historic duty for supporting the oppressed people of Gaza.
Commenting on the Iranian aid convoy, Mehman-Parast said necessary arrangements were made by the government of Egypt for carrying the cargo into the Gaza Strip.
