CDDP disburse over D4 million in CRR south

The Community Driven Development Project (CDDP) Tuesday disbursed 28 cheques amounting to three million nine hundred and forty-three thousand three hundred and ninety-nine dalasi, ninety-four bututs (D3,943,399. 94b) to 22 villages and 6 wards in CRR south. The funds are meant for the farming community to buy farm inputs, implements, draft animals and seed and cereal banking in order to improve their production and productivity.
Speaking at the handing over ceremony, the regional governor Alh Ganyie Touray commended the CDDP for the humanitarian and timely gesture. He implored the community to put the funds into its intended purposes. He said that if the funds are wisely utilized, it will improve livelihood of the farming community as it is part of the project’s objective. He called on the VDC members to summon meeting upon their return and inform the villagers about the cheque.
The grant facility manager, Balla Musa Konateh pointed out that this is the third time he is witnessing cheque disbursement by CDDP in the region. He spoke at length on the importance of sharing information at community level. He advised them to put in place a strong mechanism for the sustainability of the project.
The chief executive officer, Janjanbureh Area Council, Yusupha Manneh mentioned the series of capacity building programmes the community has undergone, saying that it is for the smooth implementation of the project. He urged them to strengthen their unity and cooperation in the interest of development.
The community development officer for CRR south, Lamin Badjie chaired the ceremony and seized the opportunity to advise the beneficiaries to make best use of the funds and respect the financial and procurement procedures.
Other speakers included the chairman of Janjanbureh Area Council, Alh Kekuta Ceesay, the financial controller of CDDP Baboucarr Manneh. Ebriam Janko Foon the councilor for Janjangbureh ward delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the beneficiaries.
