Defense Minister Brigadier General Ahmad Vahidi said on Sunday that design and production of medium-sized passenger planes with 100-150 seats have earlier begun in the country.
According to a report by the Publicity Department of the ministry, he added, "In the production of wide-bodied planes, we will cooperate with non-military sector."
The ministry has made considerable progress in the production of un-manned planes, Vahidi, said, noting that the planes are equipped with various types of sensors which increase their identifying power.
"Universities, knowledge-based companies and industry are the three sectors promoting their cooperation for development of technology," Vahidi said.
