US-funded media “peddling black propaganda war” against Iran

London, April 26, IRNA -- A veteran British journalist says some media are “peddling lies and black propaganda war” against Iran under the financial support of the US administration.

Yvonne Ridley told IRNA that such media as VOA Persian, Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty’s Radio Farda are being supported by the United States as “soft war apparatus” against the Islamic Republic of Iran.

"Having studied the clumsy attempts by previous US administrations to manipulate politics, bankroll coups and dictators as well as fund dirty wars...leading to the deaths of millions of innocent people, nothing would surprise me,” she said when asked about a recent report by US President Barack Obama to the Congress on Iran.

The US Congress has authorised the Obama administration to spend 55 million dollars on a “soft war” project against Iran under the guise of what it has called the “Victims of Iranian Censorship Act” also known as the “VOICE Act”.

Under this legislation, the US government has been instructed to bankroll anti-Iran broadcasters such as Radio Farda and VOA Persian service.

"America cannot afford another war today and so its option at the moment is to launch a black propaganda war against Iran,” Ridley said, urging the Iranian people to “see through this media manipulation and not allow themselves to be whipped up in to a state of hysteria”.

According to the VOICE Act, 30 million dollars will be expended on expanding Farsi language broadcasting into Iran by Radio Free Europe and Radio Liberty’s Radio Farda and the Voice of America’s Persian News Network—all are recognised as the propaganda mouthpiece of the US government against Iran. Some 25 million dollars more will be also allocated to other psych-ops against Iran.

"Perhaps Barack Obama would be well advised to recall the words of the 16th US President, Abraham Lincoln, who said: 'You can fool some of the people all of the time, and all of the people some of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time',” the veteran Muslim journalist said.

"The sad thing is VOA and other media outlets are using Iranians to peddle the lies and propaganda...,” she added.
