President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the Islamic Republic of Iran has no belief in nuclear weapons and considers it as ineffective adding that a lofty human, Islamic culture as Iran has is as much powerful as atomic bomb.

President Ahmadinejad made the remarks to the German RTL television Tuesday.

Asked about 'tension' between I.R.Iran and the west over the nuclear issue, the President said Iran has no problem as 'nuclear tension.' "Some western countries have directly stood against the Iranian nation for the past 30 years. Their positions have become propitious for us," the President said.

He slammed the western countries for their double standard, adding that the several western countries which oppose Iran were staunch supporters of a dictator regime which ruled Iran prior to the Islamic Revolution, 1979.

The President then called it a paradox that several 'nuclear armed' western countries call on Iran to abandon use of nuclear energy, adding "If nuclear energy is bad, the European countries and America should abandon it first."

The President noted however that Iran was unwilling to see the European countries confronting with Iran. "We are wiling to have friendly and constructive mutual ties. I believe that some western leaders have lost track of their interests," the President added.

Asked what message he has for the EU or the German chancellor, the President said the Europeans must no define their interests under the shadow of America. "They must have an independent face so as to play an effective share in the future of the world," President Ahmadinejad said.
