The Supreme Leader made the remarks in a meeting with the Armed Forces Chief of Staff and the country's top military officials.
Highlighting the significant role of armed forces to defend the country’s territorial integrity, Ayatollah Khamenei said the vigilant Iranian nation are determined to insist on the path of God.
Referring to global developments, the Supreme Leader said in such a world a powerful, vigilant and courageous military force is of prime importance.
Given the atrocities committed by the big powers and their leaders, the Supreme Leader said those who are real war mongers trample upon legitimate rights of other nations and in disguise of human rights advocacy.
"Certain governments and their heads fully back aggressions and establishment of terrorist organizations to attain their sinister goals but in dealing with the international community they take a humanitarian gesture and use soft words."
The Supreme Leader said that recent statement made by US president who explicitly threatened Iran with nuclear weapon is a good example for such gestures.
These remarks are surprising and the world should not ignore them mainly in the 21st century which is regarded as the era of human rights and campaign against terrorism, the Supreme Leader said.
Such remarks will leave harmful impacts on the US, said Ayatollah Khamenei.
"The Americans did their best to imply that the Islamic Republic of Iran is not a trustworthy country on nuclear issues but the fact is that those who possess such weapons and shamefully threaten others with such bombs are unreliable."
The Supreme Leader advised the Iranian armed forces to exercise vigilance and get well-prepared to deal with the threats.
After 30 years, the Iranian nation have proved that they are very powerful and are capable enough to thwart all plots hatched by the enemies, said the Supreme Leader.

Tehran, April 11, IRNA -- Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei on Sunday derided US President Barack Obama for posing nuclear threat to the international community.
"President of a state stands before the podium and poses threat to international peace with nuclear weapons. Such statements indicate that the US administration is wicked and untrustworthy," the Supreme Leader said.
