Goodluck Jonathan dissolves cabinet


The Acting President Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, yesterday, dissolved the federal executive council (FEC) and directed the ministers to handover to the permanent secretaries in their respective ministry.
It was gathered that Jonathan waited until the end of the yesterday’s meeting before he announced the dissolution of the cabinet.
Although it was not immediately known the reason behind the dissolution, an impeccable source confided to this reporter that the acting president wanted a more loyalists members of his in the cabinet.
“I can authoritatively report that the meeting went all through until when it was over. Just before the ministers dispersed, Jonathan called their attention and thereby dissolved the cabinet,” he said.
Jonathan, it was gathered, that he appreciated their level of support to the federal government and particularly to him throughout his stay as acting president.
He also wished them luck in their future undertakings.
Though no official statement as to when the next set of cabinet would be announced, source has it that the names of new ministers have already been compiled and would reach the National Assembly next week for screening.
Effort to get the spokesman of the ailing President Umar Yar’adua to comment on the matter was not successful as he was said to be on assignment.
