Niger : Niger's ANDP takes lead in parliament election: partial results

NIAMEY, Feb. 2 (Xinhua) -- Niger's ANDP party took the lead in the parliamentary election held on Monday, according to partial results released by the National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI).

The results mainly came from the Dosso region where eight political parties took part in the race, CENI President Abdourahamane Ghousmane said on Tuesday.

In Gaya within the same constituency, the results were as follows: ANDP received 1,750 votes which translates to 20.99 percent, CDS got 257 votes (3.08 percent), MNSD got 1,473 votes (17.99 percent), Modem F.A got 3,605 votes (43.23 percent), PNDS got 1,036 votes (12.42 percent), PPN got 82 votes (0.98 percent), RDP got 40 votes (0.48 percent), UDR got 96 votes (1.15 percent).

In the rural division of Tounouga in the same region, the results from the 43 polling stations were as follows : ANDP got 1, 547 votes (18.79 percent), CDS got 876 votes (10.64 percent), MNSD got 612 votes (7.43 percent), Modem F.A got 3, 611 votes (43.87 percent), PNDS got 1,388 votes (16.86 percent), PPN got 136 votes (1.65 percent), RDP got 37 votes (0.45 percent), UDR got 25 votes (0.30 percent).

In Dioundou, the results were as follows : ANDP got 1,217 votes (10.02 percent), CDS got 4,028 votes (33.16 percent), MNSD got 2, 267 votes (18.66 percent), Modem F.A got 943 votes (7.76 percent), PNDS got 2,917 votes (24.01 percent), PPN got 331 votes (2.72 percent), RDP got 362 votes (2.98 percent), UDR got 82 votes (0.68 percent).

In the Maradi region, ANDP and MNSD will share the parliamentary seats.

At the rural division of Issawane in the Maradi region, ANDP got 2, 386 votes (28.86 percent) against MNSD's 5,882 votes (71.14 percent).

In Maradi's urban division of Madarounfa, ANDP obtained 1,097 votes (15.96 percent) against 5,776 votes (84.04 percent) for MNSD.

In Serkin Yamma, ANDP received 1,345 votes (19.84 percent) against 5,433 votes (80.16 percent) for MNSD.

Senior CENI officials are staying at Niamey's conference center waiting for results from other regions.
