TEHRAN (FNA)- A senior Iranian official announced on Monday that the country plans to unveil a home-made brain surgery-aiding robot as soon as the next month.
"This year during the Ten-Day Dawn (from February 1 to 11, celebrating the victory of the Islamic Revolution back in 1979) ceremonies, the first brain surgeon robot will be unveiled which can assist in surgeries," Iranian Deputy Health Minister for Research Affairs Mostafa Qaneyee said.
The Iranian official also said that the robot has gone under detailed testing by Iranian researchers and scientists for brain surgeries and passed the tests successfully.
Iran has taken wide strides in science and technology, particularly in building medical and robotic devices, in recent years.
Iranian inventors in July made a man-like robot named 'Sorena 2' which walks on two feet, discerns words and does other manly actions.
Sorena 2 was born after another robot named 'Sorena 1' was developed in Iran in 2008.
