A Kenyan security officer has been killed after his vehicle came into contact with a landmine at a northeastern Kenyan refugee camp, Press TV reported.

According to local sources, the incident took place at the Hagardere refugee camp in Dadaab.

“The landmine explosion targeting the Kenyan police land cruiser ripped off the vehicle leaving one security officer dead and two others in critical condition,” the source says.

Although Somali al-Shabab militants are often seen as being behind such attacks and explosions, no group has yet claimed responsibility for the death.

Kenya has recently invaded Somalia, sending its troops to the neighboring country almost two months ago to pursue al-Shabab militants, which it accuses of being behind the kidnapping of several foreigners on its territory. Al-Shabab has denied involvement.
