Police on red alerts against terror attacks in Nigeria's Ogun State

LAGOS, June 21 (Xinhua) -- The police in southwest Nigeria's Ogun State have placed its officers and men on red alert to prevent terrorism currently being experienced in some parts of the country.
State Commissioner of Police Musa Daura disclosed this to reporters in Abeokuta, the state capital, on Monday after an emergency security meeting.
The police chief warned his men to be proactive, adding that they should see the fight against terrorism as a collective and institutional one.
Daura also promised to work with other security agencies in the state to ensure that Ogun remained safe.
The police boss advised members of the public to remain calm and be patriotic in fighting the menace of bombing by collaborating with the police always.
Daura said visitors to major vulnerable points or places in the state, particularly the command headquarters, State CID, State Intelligence Bureau (SIB), would be subjected to screening.
According to him, armed men would be deployed at different exit points in the state, while motorists would be subjected to stop- and-search exercise to check the influx of miscreants into the state.
