Dozens of Egyptian nationals held a sit-in on Saturday near the Egyptian embassy in Algiers, protesting the recent violence in their home country.
Local TSA news website said the sit-inners, mostly students, raised banners denouncing the bloody events "against the Egyptian people."

Anti-riot police rushed to the spot and set a cordon around the protesters, preventing them from approaching the embassy premises. The one-hour-long rally was dispersed peacefully, said the report.

In Egypt, clashes across the country after Wednesday's dispersal by the military of sit-ins staged by supporters of ousted President Mohamed Morsi have left at least 578 people killed and over 4,200 injured.
