Guinea's former electoral commission president named tourism minister

The former president of Guinea's National Independent Electoral Commission (CENI), Lounseny Camara, has been named as the West African country's tourism minister.
The nomination was made in a presidential decree on Thursday as a partial cabinet reshuffle initiated by President Alpha Conde about a month ago.

With his CENI leadership contested by opposition parties, Camara resigned from the leadership of the electoral body in September to end the political impasse blocking the long-delayed legislative elections.

Camara's departure facilitated the process to set up a new CENI under state law.
