Senegal's constitutional court on Tuesday released the final tally of the first round of the presidential polls, ensuring a run-off between President Abdoulaye Wade and his ex-prime minister Macky Sall.

Final results show Wade won 34.81 percent of votes, followed by Sall with 26.58 percent. The results closely mirror provisional ones given by the national electoral commission following the February 26 poll.

Another former prime minister of Wade, Moustapha Niasse, came in third place with 13.20 percent of the vote. There were 11 other runners-up, almost all of whom have already endorsed Sall.

Sall, 50, is a member of the opposition June 23 Movement (M23) against Wade's third term candidacy which sparked a month of riots in the run-up to the election, leaving six dead and some 150 injured.

The run-off election will be held March 25.
