Iranian Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki on Monday underlined Tehran's readiness to improve all-out ties with the south African state of Zimbabwe.

Fortunately, the relations between the Islamic Republic of Iran and Zimbabwe are moving forward in the right direction," Mottaki said in a meeting with the Zimbabwean President Robert Mugabe's special envoy to Tehran.

He felicitated the envoy on the anniversary of the victory of Zimbabwe's revolution, and praised the country's efforts for independence and its resistance against the arrogant powers.

Mottaki also reminded Iran's policy for expanding ties with African states, and said, "The nations of Africa enjoy all the necessary capacities for development and progress and the Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to develop ties (with Africa) in all fields."

During the meeting, the Zimbabwean envoy pointed to the progresses made by Iran in science and technology, and voiced the African country's willingness to import Iranian products.

He further underscored that the people of the two countries are standing in the same front against the hegemonic powers.
