Tehran, April 6, IRNA -- Foreign Ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast said on Tuesday that Tehran has planned to host the G15 Summit of leaders on May 17 to help promote mutual and regional cooperation.

Speaking to reports in his weekly briefing, he said “We hope to witness good welcome by leaders of the member states.”

On misunderstanding of the United Arab Emirates over ownership of Iranian islands inthe Persian Gulf, he advised the Arab league not to interfere in the issue and respect Iranian territorial integrity.

He said that misunderstanding with the UAE over Abu Musa island would be resolved through negotiations between Iran and UAE.

Asked about an allegation made by the North Atlantic Treaty Organization secretary general terming Iran a threat to the globe, he said the NATO’s secretary general as well as other countries in the globe are well aware of the aims of NATO.

“All know the goals of NATO in the world,” he said.

On Iranian nuclear scientist, Shahram Amiri, he said that according to what the Americans say, they have abducted him.

The news indicates the role of US intelligent services in the abduction of Iranian scientist, Mehmanparast said.

On Bushehr nuclear power plant, he said the plant is on its final stage and will go on stream in the near future.

Elsewhere he said that the role of the US and the Zionist intelligent services in the abduction of Iranian diplomat in Pakistan was very clear and that the world public opinion mainly the people in western countries should become familiar with the activities of these governments as false advocates of human rights.

Western countries such as the US under the guise of campaign against terrorism have interfered in the region, Mehmanparast said adding that there are concrete evidences that they have managed to bolster, create and encourage the terrorist groups instead of fighting them.

On interference of some foreign countries in Iran domestic issues, he said Iran is to seriously deal with such interventions.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is to defend its national sovereignty and never let any country interfere in its domestic issues, he said.

"Iran powerfully defends its Revolution and its independence."

On Israel, he said that the Zionist regime sees its existence in escalation of tension in the region, disrupting stability, security, and causing conflict in the Middle East in order to win support of the western countries.

Brave resistance of people in Lebanon has brought the Zionists humiliation, he underlined.

Any country which deprives itself of Iran’s extensive market, in fact creates an opportunity for others, he said.

Iran expects Russia remain committed to its pledges on delivery of S300 missiles and never heed the pressures by other countries, he said.

He said that Iran is powerful enough to defend its territorial integrity and is to use the missiles for defense purpose.
